Guide for staying at Bull Shoals Lake

Bull Shoals Lake has many lake resorts and accommodations that are sure to meet the needs of any potential vacationers. There are accommodations ranging from very primitive cabins that are great for the serious hunters and fishermen who only really need a place to stay when they are not out hunting/fishing. Then down closer to the Dam there are very luxurious resorts, even one with its own private airport. Also dotted throughout the lake there are many typical resorts that are great for family vacations or a relaxing getaway with friends and that yearly family reunion. The typical lake resort on Bull Shoals has about 10-15 cabins, a pool, a rec room usually with outdated video games (but hey old school packman is always a favorite of everyone, and besides when your at the lake you are here to be out on the water anyway :). Amongst these typical resorts quality can vary quite a great deal, there are many resort owners who are simply retired down at the lake and do not put much effort into their resort and then there are owners who run a great business and are operating their resort as their livelihood. The key is to go to one of these resorts where the owners take an active interest in the resort as these will be much nicer. You can see a list of great places to stay at Bull shoals by clicking on that link. And by a rule of thumb check out the website for the resort and if the website is not very nice expect that the owner falls into the first category of an owner who is retired and does not put to much effort into their resort. Another KEY thing to take into account when booking a vacation at Bull Shoals is to inquire if the lake resort has a boat dock. The reason this is so important is because docks are regulated heavily on the lake so many resorts actually do not have their own dedicated dock, or any dock at all. This is a big deal if you are planning to bring a boat on your vacation because pulling your boat in and out of the water everyday is a real hassle and can really ruin your vacation. While these dock restrictions can be a hassle in finding a great lake resort to stay at, they are also the reason that the lake has kept so much of its natural beauty because people cant build houses close to the lake and there are a fixed amount of dock permits that are given by the Missouri conservation department so the lake has been spared from large scale commercial building.
